STOP DAMMING BHAGIRATHI-GANGA We demand that the Government of India and the Government of Uttarakhand take immediate steps to free this holy and majestic river from bondage, ensure the uninterrupted flow of the holy river from Gangotri to Dharasu (Uttarkashi), and conserve the heritage of India.

Yes, I agree... If we do not take action immediately to preserve the health of the Ganga, India may face serious food and water shortages, and the world will lose an important cultural centre.

If the government of India and the state governments keep shutting their eyes, the ecological disaster from their action cannot be checked. On one hand we are party to the Biodiversity convention and spending funds to educate the masses on the significance of biodiversity conservation, while on the other in the name of development we are bent upon bringing not only the biodiversity loss but more importantly the consequential Ecological Disaster for the region and the country. Such double standards of the governments seem visible to the public. It is high time that the Governments get woken and save the rights of the posterity. As a senior accredited Ecologist, I request all those who matter to stop the action immediately and responder the issue from the environmental prospective and without any ego.
